Cycle House Paves the Way for Eco-Friendly, Affordable Housing in D.C.

In the heart of Washington D.C.'s Truxton Circle neighborhood, a groundbreaking affordable housing project, Cycle House, is taking shape. Designed to combat the rising housing costs and displacement issues, this four-story, mixed-use building is one of the first net-zero energy affordable housing projects in D.C.

It surprises people to find out who lives in affordable housing. It’s our school teachers, it’s our police officers, it’s our bus drivers, it’s government workers, the person serving you a coffee, the person waiting on a table...It’s important because this city is city for everyone.

With 18 apartments targeted at low- to middle-income families, Cycle House features energy-efficient technologies and green living innovations. It's a collaborative effort led by Heleos and supported by LISC and D.C. Green Bank, aiming to open by January 2025. The project embodies a commitment to sustainable and affordable living, aligning with Mayor Bowser's housing and environmental goals.
